The 1949 catalog features the first use of color by Frankoma. The page pictured above on the right is an insert for the catalog, not an actual page. The cover itself, on the left, is black and white. The glazes shown are: prairie green, desert gold, turquoise, redbud, onyx black, onyx black and turquoise, and onyx black and jade. This represents a substantial increase in glaze offerings over the previous year. Especially notable are the rare two-color glazes. These lasted only one year and are therefore attractive to collectors. A list of the bi-color offerings accompanied the 1949 catalog and I have included it in the catalog scans below. More pieces are available than are listed.
